In-State Residency Requirement

To be an in-state resident, you must live in Oregon 90 days prior to the first day of the applicable term.

Is Residency "Automatic" after 90 days?

Some states, such as Alaska, have benefits for residents that are more advantageous to students than becoming an Oregon resident for tuition purposes. Therefore, Lane does not automatically apply residency changes.

To request Oregon residency at Lane, you must complete the Request for Residency Change form, found on the Enrollment Services Forms menu, with appropriate documentation, at Enrollment Services, prior to the beginning of the term for which you wish to be considered a resident.

Proof of Residency:

Any of the following items may be used to verify your Oregon state residency:

DD214, Military I.D. or Military Dependent I.D.
Pay records from an Oregon business
Checking or savings accounts showing in-Oregon activity
Medical statements from a local doctor or hospital
Social Service agency records, or an Oregon drivers license
Local utility bills in the student's name
Attendance in on-campus classes in Oregon for the prior term

We do not accept rent or lease agreements, as these can be signed from out of state.

Students from states that border Oregon

Residents of states bordering Oregon (California, Idaho, Nevada, and Washington) are assessed in-state tuition without changing residency.
You are still eligible to change residency after 90 days if this provides an advantage to you.
