Media Arts
We offer professional technical programs in Multimedia Design, Graphic Design and Web Design that lead to certificates and/or associate of applied science degrees. Students gain industry-standard skills in both traditional and new media, taking commercial and artistic communication to the next level.

Often referring to both the process by which the communication is created and the products which are generated, Graphic Design can refer to a number of artistic and professional disciplines which focus on visual communication and presentation. Students get a solid grounding in graphic design fundamentals and print work, but also create projects in a multitude of fields like interactive media design, web design, motion graphics, and more.

Through a blending of classic techniques and new technologies, Multimedia Design offers students access to cutting-edge technology and knowledgeable guidance through the world of multimedia. Students master industry-standard applications learning to create projects using a combination of video, audio, photographs, web design, and other media that entertain while educating, in a way that is dynamic and interactive.

The award-winning student media organization of Lane Community College, The Torch News Group offers students the opportunity to work in an student-run newsroom and gain skills that apply to almost any job. The Torch is a learning lab for students focusing on journalism, graphic and multimedia design, advertising, and business management to apply what they are learning, though all students are welcome.

The Media Arts Department is proud to present an ongoing series of remarkable artists, designers, performers, producers, directors, photographers, concept artists, tech entrepreneurs, and many more. Each term we offer at least two up-close talks with expert practitioners in the creative disciplines. Our guests bring the wisdom gained from years and decades of experience in their field.

Students have access to cutting-edge technology through the Computer Labs and Equipment Checkout on campus. The labs are open to all students enrolled in Media Arts curriculum and has industry-standard software and equipment. Equipment is available to checkout for students currently enrolled in select Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, and Photography classes.

A formally organized committee of citizens selected from the community, the Media Arts Advisory Committee’s professional members provide a cross-section of expertise and experience to effectively influence the direction and momentum of Lane's programs. Advisory members come from the a wide array of fields, including advertising, design, education, web design, publishing, and printing, audio/video production, interactive multimedia, and arts education research and development.
