Early Childhood Education

For students whose career goal is to teach children from birth to pre-kindergarten age in childcare centers and in-home settings, Lane Community College offers a two year, Early Childhood Education Associate of Applied Science Degree as well as a one year, ECE Certificate. 

Extended educational opportunities include:

  • Class related to state-mandated training for individuals already working in the field;
  • Parenting skills classes;
  • College credit for prior learning for individuals at STEP 7.5 on the Professional Development Registry

All students seeking a degree or certificate in Early Childhood Education must complete 1-3 terms of on campus student teaching (ECE 240). The LCC child care center lab school will be open under the COVID-19, Phase 2, Oregon guidelines. Center staff and families and all student teachers enrolled in ECE 240 will be expected to follow all mandated safety protocols.
