
Learning Commons
The Learning Commons includes many resources that students need to achieve their educational goals, all clustered within an open, light-filled area on the second and third floors of the Center Building. The Learning Commons is a place to meet classmates to study over coffee or lunch, or to visit one of the support resources listed below to get the help you need to succeed:
LIBRARY
Study areas, reference help, research databases, online collections, library borrowing, and teaching are all part of the Library's active promotion of literacy, critical thinking, and student success. (South side of 2nd floor)
ACADEMIC TECHNOLOGY CENTER
One-stop academic support center for faculty and staff with a drop-in lab and training classroom. (208)
CENTER FOR STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Find your community at Lane. Come to the CSE to find out about clubs and organizations, or start one yourself! Come see us! (201, 202)
MOTHERING ROOM
If you need a private place feed your little one, the Mothering Room is located by the restrooms, near Tutor Center. It is a private, locking room, with a comfortable chair, a sink and supplies. (207)
INSTRUCTIONAL TESTING SERVICES
(ITS) is designed to address the testing needs of faculty and students in Lane's distance learning (online, live interactive, and telecourse) and hybrid credit courses. ITS provides a secure testing environment with academic integrity. (311)
INFORMATION
The information desk provides help in finding resources, information and locations at Lane. (In front of library, 2nd floor)
MEDIA CREATION LAB
The Media Creation Lab gives students a space to create videos, audio and animations that can be used for coursework and academic inquiry. (222)
PRINT RELEASE
The printing center is available during the Learning Commons open hours and is a place to print all of your student print jobs. (232)
ROBERT L. ACKERMAN TUTOR CENTRAL
Provides a supportive learning environment with free services including: tutoring in Math 10 and 20; help with general computer skills and content supporting CIS101 and CS120; and assistance with all stages of the writing process for all classes. (Northeast side of 2nd floor)
SHeD (STUDENT HELP DESK)
Our knowledgeable staff is ready to provide immediate assistance with any aspect of school-related technology and computer use, including Moodle, myLane, web access, and mobile devices. (East side of 2nd floor, in library)
MULTI-FAITH MEDITATION AND PRAYER SPACE
Do you need a quiet space to meditate or pray? Visit our new Meditation & Prayer Room. Everyone is welcome at any time to use this space regardless of their faith. We only ask you be respectful of others. (312)
