The English as a Second Language (ESL) Department at Lane Community College has programs for adult students who wish to improve their oral and written communication skills for work, community, and academic goals.
The ESL department enrolls students from more than 40 different nations and features instructors and staff who are highly-qualified and culturally-sensitive to the needs of English language learners. ESL serves about 400 students per term at two locations: Main Campus and the Mary Spilde Center in downtown Eugene.

The mission of English as a Second Language is to assist non-native speakers, both resident and international students, to achieve educational, workplace or other personal goals by facilitating English language learning and intercultural understanding in a supportive, respectful environment.
